For 26 years I was blessed with the best job—teaching Kindergarten. The days were never boring. Laughter and tears filled my life to the brim. Now, as Principal, I am fortunate to see big and little smiles, eleven classrooms (including the Arrowsmith Program filled with students eager to learn. I am also blest with an enthusiastic faculty and staff. I am quite sure education will always be with me, even in heaven.
From Rider University to Long Island University, I found myself in and out of lesson plans, projects, and different types of learning environments. From Kindergarten to Eighth Grade, lessons were prepared in order to spark the learning experiences of students of all ages. Never once did I doubt I was meant to be an educator. Even while teaching Middle School Reading, Religion, and Enrichment I found my students alive with wonder within their ever-changing world of adolescence.
After meeting my wonderful husband, John of 39 years, we found our way to South Carolina with our two daughters, Shannon and Erin. I taught Kindergarten and Middle School at St. Mary’s School for 20 fantastic years. Michelin transferred us to Canada for three years where shoveling snow, living in a Mennonite farming community, and working part-time in a store named Magnolia’s (Southern?) made me miss education even more than I thought possible.
K5 at OLR rejuvenated my spirit and brought me to a new phase of my life. Being the Principal of our little school on the hill has added new meaning to my life. I have the opportunity to spread my love of learning with our wonderful students. With the support of my family, including our son-in-law, Travis (I finally have a son!), each day I find myself more blest and challenged. My goal for OLR ~ To create a school atmosphere that is filled with Faith, Academic Excellence, Love, and Heart!
